CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / Ujjain: Sanskrit Day Celebrated with Grandeur at Vikram University
A grand and dignified celebration of Sanskrit Day was held at the Shalaka Gallery premises of Vikram University, Ujjain. What made the event truly special was that the entire program was conducted in Sanskrit — from school students to the Vice-Chancellor, guest speakers, and dignitaries, all communicated solely in Sanskrit.
The event was organized under the leadership of the School of Sanskrit, Vedic and Jyotirvigyan Studies of the university, with active participation from Sanskrit students of various schools across Ujjain.
The program was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arpan Bhardwaj, who, in his presidential address, described Sanskrit as a scientific language, stating, “Sanskrit is not only a treasure trove of knowledge and science but its relevance should also be recognized in modern research.” He encouraged students to promote Sanskrit and introduced them to the academic excellence of the university.

The keynote speaker, renowned Sanskrit scholar Kedar Narayan Joshi, said, “The roots of all world languages lie in Sanskrit. If today’s youth understands the essence of Sanskrit, they will not only connect with their cultural heritage but will also attain excellence in linguistic skills.”
Distinguished guests included University Registrar Anil Kumar Sharma and Vibha Sharma, Principal of the Utkrisht Higher Secondary School. Dr. Sharma inspired students to pursue Sanskrit studies, stating, “This event will surely create new awareness.”
The program began with a welcome address by Prof. B.K. Anjana, followed by an introduction to the event by Mahendra Pandya. The proceedings were conducted by Gopalkrishna Shukla, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Vishnu Prasad Meena.
Other distinguished attendees included Rashmi Mishra, Sarveshwar Sharma, Rukmani Bhadauria, and several eminent scholars. A key highlight of the event was that every speech was delivered entirely in Sanskrit, which inspired a sense of renewed enthusiasm among the attending students.
