CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : The Sanskrit Week Festival has begun at the Bhopal campus of Central Sanskrit University. The program is being organized under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Srinivas Barkhedi of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. The festival will continue until August 11.

The Chief Guest at the inauguration session was Shreesh Dev Pujari, All India Sampark Pramukh of Sanskrit Bharati, and the session was chaired by Campus Director Prof. Ramakant Pandey. Also present on the occasion were Associate Director Prof. Govind Pandey and Head of the Veda-Vedanga Department Prof. Subodh Sharma.

Chief Guest Shreesh Dev Pujari stated that Sanskrit is meant for knowledge, not for material gain. He emphasized that people involved with Sanskrit should study the language with the goal of acquiring wisdom, and it is everyone’s responsibility to take Sanskrit to the masses. He added that many modern universities are promoting the use of Sanskrit, and thus, those connected with the Sanskrit world must actively participate in such efforts.

Presiding over the event, Campus Director Prof. Ramakant Pandey said in his address that spreading and promoting Sanskrit is our responsibility. He emphasized the importance of taking Sanskrit to different regions so that it can reach common citizens. He also shared details of the full program scheduled during Sanskrit Week.

As part of the celebrations, various school-level competitions will be held in Bhopal, including Bhagavad Gita recitation, Subhashita recitation, and Sanskrit speech contests. At the university level, events like speech competitions, Sanskrit group singing, and essay writing contests will also take place.

Prof. Subodh Sharma delivered the welcome address for the guests, while Associate Director Prof. Govind Pandey gave the vote of thanks. The event was conducted by Narsingh Lal U.

The program was coordinated by Prof. Somanath Sahu, along with other members of the organizing committee.
