CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A two-day awareness program organized at Sant Hirdaram Girls’ College, Bhopal, on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, concluded successfully. The event was jointly conducted by the college’s Department of Food and Nutrition, NCC and NSS units, in collaboration with IAPEN Bhopal Chapter and the Indian Dietetic Association, Bhopal Chapter.
The concluding day witnessed the esteemed presence of two distinguished speakers who shared their insights on crucial topics such as breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, and lactation literacy. In the first session, Amita Singh, a clinical nutritionist and gold medalist in Nutrition and Dietetics, delivered a lecture. She elaborated on the importance of nutrition during pregnancy, explaining the causes and effects of nutrient deficiencies and offering practical dietary solutions for a healthy pregnancy. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where participants clarified their queries.
The second session was conducted by clinical dietician Rashmi Srivastava, who provided in-depth information on the social and physiological significance of lactation literacy. To ensure active student participation, she also organized an informative quiz on breastfeeding awareness. Additionally, Shanti Sharma, head of the college’s NCC unit, coordinated a poster-making competition on the theme of breastfeeding, allowing students to express their creativity. The session concluded with an emotional poetry recitation by Harsha Bhatnagar, beautifully capturing the spirit of the event.
College Principal Dalima Parwani praised all the organizers for the successful execution of the program and emphasized that breastfeeding awareness is especially important in a women-centric educational institution. She noted that such efforts inspire future generations to become aware and responsible citizens.
