CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Languages at Sant Hirdaram Girls College organised a one-day special lecture and prize distribution ceremony on the topic “Hindi Language in the Indian Knowledge Tradition” on the occasion of Hindi Diwas.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and welcome address by chief guest Sudhir Kumar Sharma, Principal Dalima Parwani and faculty members of the Department of Languages. In his guiding lecture, keynote speaker Sudhir Kumar Sharma said Hindi is not merely a medium of expression, but a carrier of Indian knowledge, culture and sensibilities. He encouraged the students to connect with the Indian knowledge tradition and to make wider use of the Hindi language.

Presiding over the ceremony, Principal Dalima Parwani said in her address that language keeps our cultural identity alive. She urged students to take pride in Hindi.

In the final phase of the programme, the chief guest was honoured with a memento, and prizes were presented to the winning students of extempore speech, essay writing, poetry writing and story writing competitions organised to mark Hindi Diwas.
