CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : At Sant Hirdaram Girls’ College, Bhopal, a guest lecture on “Fundamentals of Physics” was organized under the joint auspices of the Department of Physics and the Department of Mathematics. On this occasion, guest speaker Seema Hardikar, Professor, Department of Computer Science, Sarojini Naidu Girls’ P.G. College, Bhopal, provided the students with detailed insights into the journey of physics from its historical origins to its modern perspectives.
In her lecture, she explained how Thales was the first to attempt to understand the mysteries of nature. Later, Copernicus laid the foundation of modern astronomy with his heliocentric model of the universe. Galileo, through his experiments, simplified the concepts of motion and gravity, while Newton presented the principles of classical mechanics, giving physics a strong scientific base. Dalton’s atomic theory clarified the micro-structure of matter, and gradually this journey extended to quantum physics and modern cosmology.
Dr. Hardikar also guided the students on various dimensions of physics such as classical mechanics, quantum theory, structure of the universe, and the possibilities of careers and research opportunities in physics after graduation. The students described the lecture as highly informative and inspiring, stating that it not only enriched their theoretical knowledge but also motivated them to pursue higher education and research in the future.
On the success of the program, the Principal remarked that the lecture was enlightening and inspirational for the students. The scientific journey from the history of physics to the modern era made it clear that curiosity and a spirit of research are the mothers of new discoveries. The college management congratulated Jyoti Singh, Head of the Department of Physics, and Varsha Mandwariya, Head of the Department of Mathematics, for their cooperation and guidance in making the program successful.
