CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Wellington. After a heavy defeat against India in the third T20 International, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner praised the aggressive batting of Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He admitted that when the two batters get into rhythm, they become extremely difficult to stop. In the match played in Wellington, India chased a target of 199 in just 13.2 overs to win by six wickets and take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

“When they are in rhythm, it is difficult to stop them.” After the match, Santner said he had seen this aggressive approach from Indian batters before. In the IPL too, batters put similar pressure on bowlers, and New Zealand had to face the same here. Praising India’s batting in the powerplay, he said both players showed how the first six overs can be used in this format.

Abhishek scored 113 off 38 balls

Abhishek Sharma batted in explosive fashion, scoring 113 runs off 38 balls. His innings included nine fours and 11 sixes. He completed his century in just 35 balls. On the other hand, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed 45 runs off 19 balls. The pair added 133 runs for the first wicket in only 7.1 overs, pushing New Zealand’s bowlers on to the back foot.

The target was to reach close to 200 runs. Santner said the partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Bevon Jacobs helped New Zealand reach a big total. Daryl Mitchell scored an unbeaten 89, while Jacobs contributed an unbeaten 39. New Zealand made 198 runs in 20 overs. According to Santner, a score around 200 could have been good on this pitch, but the Indian bowlers restricted scoring in the final overs with accurate yorkers. He also admitted that due to dew, defending the target became difficult. New Zealand will now try to make a comeback in the fourth T20.
