CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ New Delhi : At the auditorium of the Sahitya Akademi, the latest short story collection “Gareebnawaz” by senior poet–storyteller and Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University, Santosh Choubey, was ceremonially launched along with a book discussion session. The event was jointly organized under the aegis of Vanmali Srijan Peeth, Delhi, and Rajkamal Prakashan Group.
The book was formally released in the presence of eminent storyteller Mamta Kalia, with senior litterateur Janki Prasad Sharma presiding. At the beginning of the program, Santosh Choubey read from the title story of the collection and shared his thoughts on the creative process. He emphasized that a story’s greatest strength lies in its readability and visual appeal.
Mamta Kalia remarked that Choubey writes with a focus on social concerns and the cause of humanity. “Gareebnawaz” reflects his realist vision and deep sensitivity toward the working class. In his presidential address, Janki Prasad Sharma highlighted the extraordinary readability of Choubey’s stories and their ability to raise critical social questions.
Senior critic Akhilesh noted that Choubey’s stories depict reality with depth while shaping a new narrative discipline. Vinod Tiwari observed that love, compassion, and humanity are strongly present in these stories. Storyteller Alpana Mishra said Choubey creates an intimate atmosphere where deep thought becomes the focal point, while young writer Ashutosh underlined the scientific and humanistic vision reflected in his works.
The welcome address was delivered by Leeladhar Mandloi, with Pranjal Dhar and Kunal Singh conducting the proceedings. Ashok Maheshwari of Rajkamal Prakashan Group proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of writers and readers from Delhi–NCR participated enthusiastically in the event.
The launch of “Gareebnawaz” proved to be more than just a literary function — it became an opportunity to highlight new dimensions of contemporary Hindi short fiction.
