Political activity is intensifying in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Amid this, the Sarvajan Sanatan Party (SSP) has announced that it will contest all 403 Assembly seats in the state. The announcement was made by the party’s newly elected national president and former CBI director M. Nageswara Rao at a press conference in Lucknow. He said the party wants to provide the people of the state with an independent political alternative.

Targeting both the BJP and the Congress, Nageswara Rao said the politics of fake secularism and cosmetic Hindutva would no longer work. He said Hindus are not a captive vote bank of any political party and should have the freedom to choose their political preference. He accused the BJP of practising pseudo-Hindutva and politics of caste-based division. The party’s slogan is: “Now Uttar Pradesh will change.”

In its political agenda, the SSP has given prominence to Sanatan civilisational values, constitutional democracy, social harmony and accountable governance. The party has raised issues such as cow protection, the role of religious leaders in the management of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, a review of the reservation policy, and free education and health services.

In addition, proposals have been put forward to increase farmers’ incomes, provide employment opportunities in rural areas and develop better facilities for the youth. The party has appealed to farmers, youth, workers, entrepreneurs and saints to join its campaign.

By announcing that it will contest all 403 seats, the SSP has signalled its intent to establish an independent identity in the state’s politics. The party will now face the challenge of expanding its organisation and taking its declared policies to the people.
