CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, said on Saturday that he would visit Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray’s residence in Mumbai along with his lawyer to serve a ₹500-crore defamation notice. He said the notice relates to statements made about his daughter’s death and his demand for a fresh investigation.
Before leaving for Thackeray’s residence, Satish Salian said he and his lawyer had received threats and that he had sought police protection. When asked about the alleged threats, he made the reported remark that the worst that could happen was that he could be killed.
The legal development comes days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR into Disha Salian’s 2020 death following a Bombay High Court order. The FIR includes allegations related to criminal conspiracy, gang rape, murder and destruction of evidence. These are allegations recorded in the complaint and remain subject to investigation.
The Bombay High Court had directed the CBI to investigate the circumstances surrounding Disha Salian’s death and clarified that no individual should be treated as an accused unless sufficient material emerges during the investigation.
Aaditya Thackeray has denied the allegations concerning him and has described the claims as baseless. The CBI investigation is continuing.
