CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Patna / Khagaria: The traditional folk festival ‘Satuani’ was celebrated across Bihar on Monday with great enthusiasm, devotion, and cultural joy. From rural to urban areas, people enjoyed this special occasion with sattu (roasted gram flour), chutney, pickles, and tikola (a refreshing raw mango drink).

Satuani, primarily a symbol of purity, simplicity, and folk traditions, is observed at the onset of summer to cool the body and improve digestion. On this day, people traditionally consume sattu made from maize, chickpeas, and barley, often mixed with onions, green chilies, lemon, and chutney as part of the festival’s ritual.

From early morning, sattu was prepared in every household, and families came together to enjoy this wholesome meal. In many places, social organizations and panchayat representatives hosted community feasts, where villagers dined together, spreading the message of brotherhood.

According to senior experts in folk traditions, Satuani is not just a festival, but a celebration of Bihar’s cultural soul, deeply linked with local cuisine, seasonal balance, and social harmony.

On the occasion of Satuani, messages related to environmental and health awareness were also shared, encouraging the use of natural and indigenous food items.
