CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In front of Satya Bhavan at Barkatullah University, under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Green Campus Campaign, a joint program was organized by Barkatullah University, Bhopal, and the State Bank of India. On this occasion, to support the maintenance of a green campus, the State Bank of India handed over the keys of five e-rickshaws to Barkatullah University. The keys were formally presented by SBI General Manager Mr. Kundan Jyoti to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor S. K. Jain.

The program was attended by University Registrar Dr. Anil Sharma, SBI DGM Mr. Sai Krishna Sridhar, Barkatullah University Finance Controller Ms. Saghira Siddiqui, University State Bank branch manager Ms. Pooja Goyal, other SBI officials, members of the university fraternity including teachers, officers, and employees, as well as residents from areas surrounding the university campus. The program was conducted by the University’s Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW), Mr. Pawan Mishra.

While delivering the welcome address, Registrar Dr. Anil Sharma stated that the university has consistently been making efforts to keep the campus clean and green. He added that the Vice-Chancellor has been continuously working in this direction to ensure that the Barkatullah University campus remains lush and environmentally friendly.

Speaking on the occasion, SBI General Manager Mr. Kundan Jyoti said that the State Bank of India branch on the university campus has completed 50 years. He expressed gratitude to the university family for the cooperation and support extended to SBI over these five decades. He emphasized that this initiative was not merely part of CSR, but rather the bank was returning the people’s own money to them. He also announced that SBI would additionally provide 15 bicycles to the university to further support efforts to keep the campus green.

He further extended his best wishes to all members of the university family on the occasion of the upcoming New Year and Christmas, assuring them that the State Bank of India would always stand with the university. He also congratulated the branch manager and SBI officials for their contributions.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Professor Suresh K. Jain said that for the past one year he had been making continuous efforts to introduce the use of e-rickshaws within the campus to promote greenery and environmental conservation, and he was pleased that these efforts had finally succeeded. He congratulated the State Bank of India for supporting the university by providing five e-rickshaws under the Green Initiative Program and for announcing the future provision of 15 bicycles.

He further stated that he envisions developing the Barkatullah University campus on the lines of IIT campuses. As part of this plan, bicycles would be made available in various departments so that professors, students, and staff can use them and actively contribute to the Green Initiative Program. At present, parking facilities for this purpose have been arranged in the university’s IODE campus. He thanked all teachers, officers, and employees of the university for their cooperation and urged everyone to contribute toward environmental protection and maintaining a green campus.

On this occasion, Finance Controller Ms. Saghira Siddiqui explained in detail how coordination was established with bank officials under the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme for the implementation of the e-rickshaw initiative and presented the vote of thanks. She also specially appreciated the efforts of the university’s SBI branch manager, Ms. Pooja Goyal.

At the beginning of the program, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed the SBI General Manager by presenting a shawl and a ceremonial coconut (Shriphal).
