CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: There is good news for young candidates preparing for jobs at the State Bank of India (SBI). The bank is planning to appoint around 11,000 to 12,000 new employees in the financial year 2026-27. SBI Chairman C.S. Setty said the recruitment will mainly be in the officer and clerical cadres.
The bank’s plan is not limited to recruitment alone. SBI is also preparing to open around 200 to 250 new branches across the country. With the expansion of branches, the bank will need additional employees. However, the actual number of appointments may be higher or lower depending on employee retirements and the bank’s requirements.
SBI had recruited a total of 25,633 employees in the previous financial year 2025-26. This included the recruitment of officers, associates and contract employees. According to the bank, the need for large-scale recruitment of IT professionals this year will be lower compared with last year.
At present, a separate detailed recruitment notification for the 12,000 posts has not been issued. Candidates should keep an eye on SBI’s official recruitment website for application dates, post-wise eligibility and examination details.
