CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Karan Johar’s much-discussed Student of the Year franchise is returning this time in an entirely new and darker style. The trailer of its upcoming web series Student of the Year: After Dark has been released. Starring Shanaya Kapoor, the series moves beyond the traditional story of school glamour, romance and friendship into a world of murder mystery, conspiracy and competition.
A story of twin sisters: who is behind the death? In the trailer, Shanaya Kapoor is seen in a double role. She plays Ayesha Malik and her twin sister Aditi. The mysterious death of Ayesha, a popular student of St Teresa School, gives the story a new turn. Aditi refuses to accept her sister’s death as an accident and reaches the same school to find out the truth. Hiding her identity, she takes part in the school’s prestigious Student of the Year competition. As the investigation moves forward, she discovers that Ayesha’s close friends were also her rivals. In such a situation, every face inside the school comes under suspicion.
A dangerous competition like Squid Game? The trailer presents the competition in a more mysterious and dangerous atmosphere than ever before. For this reason, viewers are comparing it with the much-talked-about survival thriller Squid Game. However, audiences will have to wait for the release to see the complete picture of the series’ story and its outcomes.
When and where can the series be watched? Student of the Year: After Dark has been directed by Reema Maya and produced by Dharmatic Entertainment. Along with Shanaya Kapoor, Divik Sharma, Manya Grover and other actors will also be seen. The series will stream on JioHotstar from November 13, 2026. While the earlier franchise centred on campus glamour, love and the competition of friendship, this time mystery, betrayal and a murder puzzle will drive the story forward.
