CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the final day of the two-day workshop organized in alignment with National Science Day at Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, a short film (documentary) based on C.V. Raman was screened in the university auditorium. Prior to this, a quiz competition was conducted, in which university students actively participated.

During the concluding session, Dr. Pragya Ojha, In-Charge Director of the University’s Incubation Center, presented a report on the two-day workshop. The event was graced by the chief guest, Director Bharat Sharan Singh, Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission, Bhopal.

In his address, Director Singh emphasized the four key aspects of science: Search, Research, Invention, and Innovation. He elaborated on the background of C.V. Raman’s discovery of the Raman Effect and highlighted the crucial role of youth in building a developed India. He also discussed in detail the inventions of James Watt’s steam engine and Thomas Alva Edison’s electric bulb.

Director Bharat Sharan Singh stated that India’s ancient scriptures contain numerous scientific achievements, but due to their availability only in Sanskrit, they were not widely accessible. He mentioned that Max Müller’s English translations helped the world recognize India’s scientific heritage. He further explained that India had advanced iron-making technology 1600 years ago and introduced students to the discovery of zero, Vedic mathematics, and other scientific achievements. He encouraged the youth to explore scientific innovations and shared an interesting story behind the invention of the Mridangam. Singh emphasized the need for further research in Indian scriptures.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Sanjay Tiwari, presided over the event. In his speech, he remarked that the invention of the steam engine revolutionized the energy sector, enabling Britain to dominate the world. Similarly, America established global influence through oil-based innovations. He stressed that India can become a developed nation by 2047 through advancements in science and innovation.

Director Tiwari highlighted the importance of observation and patience in scientific research. He advised that every research idea should be deeply contemplated, and that willpower, skill, and integrity are crucial in research. He noted that research requires investment, but innovation helps recover that investment. Dr. Tiwari also acknowledged the significant contributions of DRDO and ISRO in scientific research and mentioned several ongoing scientific projects. He concluded by stating that a nation progresses only when its science and technology are advanced.

At the end of the event, participants of various competitions were awarded prizes and certificates. In the Rangoli competition, Kalpana Mishra secured first place, Radha Rai was second, and Zeenat Parveen finished third. In the quiz competition, Radha Rai secured first place, Satya Vijay Yadav was second, and Rakshit Khairwa placed third.

Following this, Dr. Uttam Singh Chauhan, Director of the Academic Coordination Department, delivered a vote of thanks. The event was hosted by Dr. Anita Kaushal, Deputy Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell. A large number of teachers, officials, staff, and students from the university attended the closing session of the two-day workshop.
