Shashikala, Dean and Head of the New Media Technology Department at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, University Registrar Dr. Avinash Vajpeyi, and Training Director Dr. Jaya Surajani delivered valuable lectures. They emphasized that the public trusts what we write and say, so it is essential to fact-check and verify the accuracy of information before broadcasting news. Accurate and factual news increases public trust in us. This was stated by Director of Public Relations, Anshul Gupta, during a divisional workshop on New Age Media, Convergence, Social Media, and Digital Media Skill Enhancement held at Tansen Residency.

In the first technical session of the workshop, Dr. P. Shashikala, Head of the New Media Technology Department at Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, gave a presentation on “Fact-Checking in Social Media News and Stories with Special Reference.” She elaborated on various aspects of New Media and explained how social media can be used to widely disseminate beneficial government schemes to the public and for effective branding. Dr. Shashikala stressed the importance of fact-checking when using social media and highlighted the need to be cautious, avoiding misinformation and disinformation. The workshop also covered the topic of fake news and advised journalists to be careful when presenting news and information. Additionally, detailed information on deep fakes was provided, along with an introduction to the Google Fact-Check tool to help prevent them.

In the second technical session, Ashish Sahu gave a presentation on the topic of AI for journalism. He explained that AI has made journalism much easier, enabling tasks that previously took hours to be completed in minutes. Mr. Sahu also provided a detailed explanation of using ChatGPT and introduced various news-related tools, mentioning that some tools are free while others are paid. He pointed out that having precise and accurate knowledge of AI tools can help avoid certain cyber frauds. Registrar Dr. Avinash Vajpeyi highlighted that developmental journalism is receiving very little space in our news media today. Dr. Vajpeyi also provided insights into the vastness of social media and the employment opportunities it offers.

Dr. Jaya Surajani from Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication delivered a lecture on social media and public relations. She explained how social media can be effectively used for public relations for any organization. In conclusion, Bhopal’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Sanjay Jain, expressed gratitude to everyone. The workshop was attended by public relations officers, social media handlers, representatives from News Age Media, and social media influencers from all districts of Gwalior and Chambal divisions.

Commendable Initiative by the Public Relations Department The Public Relations Department took a commendable initiative by organizing a workshop on social and digital media in Gwalior on Thursday. This was the first workshop on social and digital media in Gwalior. The speakers in the workshop advised avoiding fake and misleading news.
