CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: Sensorise Smart Solutions has launched its next-generation Wega M1 4G connectivity module at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, marking a step towards strengthening India’s domestic Internet of Things (IoT) technology ecosystem. Designed and manufactured in India, the module aims to provide a locally developed connectivity solution for connected devices across multiple industries.
The module was unveiled by Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia during the technology event held in New Delhi from October 7 to 10, 2026. Built on Qualcomm’s 216 LTE IoT modem platform, Wega M1 is designed to connect devices with telecommunications networks and support machine-to-machine (M2M) communication.
According to Sensorise, the module is intended for applications across electric vehicles, smart electricity meters, point-of-sale terminals, asset tracking, logistics and industrial IoT systems. Its pin-compatible design is expected to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) adopt the technology with fewer hardware modifications.
Wega M1 supports multi-operator and Multi-IMSI capabilities, eSIM technology and remote SIM provisioning. It also incorporates QoSIM integration for connectivity monitoring and analytics. The company says the module is designed for long-term deployments, with a proposed product lifecycle of 10 to 15 years, and has been developed with applicable Department of Telecommunications and regulatory requirements in mind.
Karn Nagpal, President of Sensorise, said the launch reflects the company’s focus on developing connectivity products suited to India’s requirements, including data sovereignty, cybersecurity and domestic manufacturing. Qualcomm India also highlighted its support for reliable and power-efficient cellular connectivity for IoT applications.
Sensorise plans to commercialise Wega M1 in the first quarter of 2027, with initial deployments expected with selected enterprise customers. The company sees opportunities to combine connectivity modules with eSIM services as demand for connected devices grows.
The launch comes amid India’s broader efforts to expand domestic electronics manufacturing and develop trusted digital infrastructure. Commercial adoption, product performance and integration with manufacturers’ systems will be important factors in determining the module’s role in the country’s growing IoT market.
