Women SHG presidents trained under Swadeshi Diwali campaign in Lucknow

CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A training programme for self-help group presidents was organised under the Swadeshi Diwali campaign at the state office of the Self-Help Group cell of Sahakar Bharati in Rajajipuram, Lucknow.

Sahakar Bharati national vice-president Tushar Srivastava, national training head Anuradha Srivastava and Sahakar Bharati Self-Help Group all-India office-bearer Ankur Singh took part in the programme. During the event, presidents of self-help groups working under the leadership of Lucknow division vice-president Gudiya Nigam were trained in the making and production of various Diwali-related Swadeshi products.

The objective of the training was to enable women associated with self-help groups to prepare Swadeshi Diwali products and market them, so that they can get local employment and income opportunities and Swadeshi products can be promoted in the market.

Ankur Singh, all-India office-bearer of Sahakar Bharati Self-Help Group, said that through the Swadeshi Diwali campaign, efforts are being made to connect women’s skills with self-employment and provide them access to markets. Women’s entrepreneurship will be promoted by connecting more and more self-help groups with the campaign.

At the programme, self-help group presidents resolved to work towards promoting the manufacture and marketing of Swadeshi products and connecting more women with the campaign.
