Shinde-Uddhav Battle Shifts to Lok Sabha

CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Maharashtra politics has entered a new phase as the rivalry between Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray appears to have shifted from the state legislature to the Lok Sabha. Fresh reports of a possible split within the Uddhav-led faction have intensified political speculation, with several MPs reportedly considering a move toward the Shinde camp. The developments have revived memories of the dramatic 2022 rebellion that reshaped Maharashtra’s political landscape.

According to reports, six MPs from Shiv Sena (UBT) have sought recognition as a separate group in Parliament, a move that could significantly weaken Uddhav Thackeray’s position in the Lok Sabha. The alleged operation, dubbed “Operation Tiger” by political observers, is being viewed as an attempt to expand Shinde’s influence at the national level and strengthen his bargaining power within the ruling alliance.

The crisis deepened after only a few MPs attended a key parliamentary meeting called by Uddhav Thackeray despite a party whip, fueling speculation of growing dissent within the organization. However, some MPs have publicly denied reports of joining the Shinde faction, indicating that the political situation remains fluid.

As both camps prepare for the next political showdown, the battle for control over Shiv Sena’s parliamentary strength is set to shape Maharashtra’s political narrative in the months ahead.
