Lucknow. The first night in jail for Shraddha Dubey and her sister Rashmi Dubey, arrested in the businessman Shiva Sharma murder case, passed in restlessness. The two sisters, reported to be accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle, now have to live according to the jail’s fixed routine, ordinary food and strict rules. According to media reports, both could not sleep properly on the first night and kept tossing and turning for a long time. Shraddha also could not finish the food served in jail.
Shifted to the general women’s barrack: After being admitted to the district jail at Gosainganj, Shraddha and Rashmi were initially kept in a quarantine barrack. After the prescribed period was completed, both were shifted on Friday to a general barrack housing about 45 women inmates. Tanveer alias Danish, the driver arrested in the case, has been kept in the barrack for male inmates.
Jail food and timetable must be followed: According to reports, on the first night Shraddha and Rashmi were served whole urad dal, roti and a potato-soya fenugreek vegetable dish. Shraddha could not finish the meal. After a restless night, both were woken up at 6 a.m. on Friday as per the jail schedule. Sweet porridge and tea were served for breakfast. Dal, vegetables, rice and roti were served for lunch.
Special security and monitoring arrangements: According to the jail administration, the two sisters are being monitored under the supervision of a woman deputy jailer, while Tanveer is being monitored by male officers. It has also emerged that, for security reasons, the accused may be produced in court through video conferencing.
Police investigation continues: In the Shiva Sharma murder case, police are also investigating the role of people who came in contact with the accused after the incident and alleged helpers. Media reports have referred to CCTV footage from a hospital, on the basis of which information is being gathered about some other people. The final determination of the allegations and the role of suspects will be made only after the investigation and judicial process.
