CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Interacts with Farmers, Distributes Equipment and Input Kits in Bhopal
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan engaged with farmers from Budhni Assembly, part of his Vidisha parliamentary constituency, at the ICAR – Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Bhopal and distributed agricultural equipment and input kits. On this occasion, he extended Navratri greetings and wished for the well-being and prosperity of all citizens.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted that the new GST reforms implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will directly benefit both the general public and farmers. He explained that GST on essential daily items has been reduced to zero, while the GST on agricultural equipment has been lowered from 18% and 12% to just 5%, leading to significant savings for farmers. For example, a 35-horsepower tractor will now save farmers ₹43,000.

The Agriculture Minister also commended the new machinery at ICAR – Agricultural Engineering Institute, noting that battery-operated sprayers and vegetable transplanting machines will simplify farming operations and increase productivity. He encouraged farmers to adopt integrated farming, which combines agriculture with animal husbandry, beekeeping, poultry, and fish farming, thereby boosting income.
He emphasized that the Modi government’s policies aim to empower farmers and strengthen the rural economy. The event was attended by agricultural officers, institute members, and local farmers.
