CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ New Delhi / Satna: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Satna. He first offered prayers at Maa Sharda Devi Temple in Maihar, seeking peace and prosperity for the people of the nation and the state. Afterward, he attended a program on “One Nation, One Election” organized at Excellence College and addressed the students.

In his speech, Chouhan said that frequent elections in the country are a major obstacle to the pace of development. “For five years, twelve months, and 365 days, election preparations continue,” he remarked. Repeated elections affect government functioning, halt public work, and lead to massive expenditure. He highlighted that in the last five years, nearly ₹4.5 lakh crore was spent on elections, money that belongs to the people and could have been used for constructive purposes. Moreover, during elections, the duties of police and paramilitary forces are diverted, weakening the security system. He emphasized that if Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are held together, it will save money, time, labor, and even the environment.

During the event, Chouhan also stressed promoting Swadeshi. He reminded that independence was not attained on a silver platter, but through the sacrifices of brave revolutionaries. Heroes like martyr Padmdhar Singh laid down their lives chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” and they deserve our utmost respect.
The Union Minister administered a pledge to the students and the public to support One Nation, One Election through constitutional amendment and to strengthen the economy by adopting indigenous products. He said, “When we buy goods made in our own country, only then will our youth get employment and India will become self-reliant.”
