CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a meeting with officials of his parliamentary constituency at Ravindra Bhavan to ensure the success of the upcoming Sports Festival. During the meeting, he discussed in detail the framework, programs, and management of the festival. Chouhan told the officials that the Sports Festival is not just a competition but a major platform for showcasing social harmony and youth energy. He urged everyone to contribute responsibly to make the event grand and well-organized. Regional officials also shared their suggestions during the meeting.
Treatment of the sick is our top priority
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that serving suffering humanity is the greatest religion. He emphasized that if any worker or citizen of the region falls ill, it is their foremost duty to ensure proper treatment. He recalled that during his tenure as Chief Minister, he had helped many needy people through voluntary grants. Even today, if someone suffers from a serious illness and lacks financial resources, he personally makes efforts to arrange treatment by mobilizing resources. “We will not let anyone die just because they don’t have money. Every possible effort will be made to ensure treatment,” he asserted.
Chouhan also narrated an incident from Sukarwas village in his constituency, where a youth was critically injured in a road accident. Belonging to a poor family, villagers collected over ₹2 lakh for his treatment. When Chouhan came to know, he rushed from Delhi to the hospital, discussed with doctors, and facilitated his better treatment through the Ayushman Card scheme.
Service to the poor and farmers is true worship
The Agriculture Minister further said that every day many people approach him for treatment of serious illnesses, and serving the poor, middle-class, and farmers is true worship of God. He added that the Ayushman Card is a major support for treatment and can be used in both government hospitals like AIIMS and private hospitals. He also announced that a presentation would be organized to spread awareness about its benefits. Furthermore, if someone does not have an Ayushman Card, special camps will be set up to issue them, and in cases of need, treatment will be arranged through voluntary grants or other means.
