CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On Gandhi Jayanti in Goa, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan joined CM Sawant in a cleanliness service drive and also took the Opposition to task.

Chouhan said the government was running a cleanliness campaign, while the Congress was “spreading filth” in the country. Targeting Rahul Gandhi, he said this was not democracy but “a campaign to spread anarchy, lies and unrest”.

The Union Agriculture Minister launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi’s politics and said those who defame the country abroad do not look credible when they speak about democracy. In Ponda, Chouhan also hit out at the Congress, saying those who imposed the Emergency and toppled 50 governments were now lamenting over democracy.

Speaking on the development of “Golden Goa”, Chouhan said the entire country was saying, “Well done Goa, well done Pramod Sawant.” Referring to basic facilities, he said homes in Goa had tap water, electricity and pucca roofs. He said only 595 kutcha houses remained in Goa, and handed over the benefit of the final pucca houses to CM Sawant.

Chouhan also referred to the Goa Fresh brand and Pink Auto initiative. He said the sweat of farmers in the fields, combined with the branding efforts of young people, would make Goa shine in the global market.

Goa’s farmers also received a new assurance, with Chouhan approving another new Krishi Vigyan Kendra to be opened soon in the state.
