CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A one-day national seminar based on NEP-2020 (National Education Policy) was organized by the Department of Political Science at Shri Sathya Sai Women’s College, Bhopal, which has been accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC.
The theme of the seminar was:
“Indian Knowledge System: Promoting Holistic Education Through a Multidisciplinary Approach”
(Organized under the NEP initiative)
The guest welcome ceremony was conducted by the college’s Director and Chief Patron of the program, Pratibha Singh, by presenting a sapling. Principal and Patron of the event, Dr. Archana Srivastava, delivered the welcome address.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Shreeji Seth, Head of the Department of Political Science, and co-coordinated by Dr. Harsha Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science.
The guest speaker was Dr. Mahendra Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Deendayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University. He highlighted the significance of the National Education Policy, explaining its various dimensions and benefits. He emphasized adopting indigenous practices and self-reliance for building a self-sufficient India. Referring to Kautilya’s Arthashastra, he said that a king must be benevolent towards his people. He remarked that development is a continuous process, and values in education and education in values are essential for society. Moral education, he said, shapes virtuous individuals. Appreciating the concepts of social harmony, love, and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, he stressed becoming responsible citizens.

The second speaker, Professor Dr. Uttam Singh Chauhan, Joint Director, Madhya Pradesh Hindi Granth Academy, presented his scholarly views on the Indian knowledge tradition and the Indian Knowledge System, beginning his remarks with “Asato Mā Sad Gamaya.” He offered an in-depth explanation of the Vedas and Vedangas. He stated that the Indian Knowledge System is ancient, and what science validates today was already known to Indian sages. He explained that natural science is based on direct evidence. Referring to the four Vedas, he elaborated on Vedanta, stating that Vedic life is linked with truth and righteousness. Explaining “Karmanye Vadhikaraste,” he described the Gita as a scripture born in the battlefield, explaining its essence. He also discussed Panini’s Ashtadhyayi grammar, the Gayatri Mantra, and the significance of the seven colors of the rainbow. Touching upon Samkhya philosophy, Kanada, Charak, Shankaracharya’s Advaita philosophy, Ramananda, Nyaya philosophy, Vaisheshika philosophy, and Buddhism (Hinayana and Mahayana), he described nature as a bearer of both pleasure and sorrow. He then traced the influence of the Indian knowledge tradition across various subjects.

Co-patron, Dean of Law Dr. Anju Bajpai, and Vice Principal Dr. Renu Mishra were also present.
On this occasion, 96 participants took part in a quiz competition organized by Jaipuria Institute, Indore. The winners were:
– Madhavi Bhargava (B.A. 3rd Year)
– Tanishka Sharma (B.A. 2nd Year)
– Saumya Gaur (B.A. 2nd Year)
They were awarded Amazon gift vouchers worth ₹2000 by the guest.
Researchers presented their research papers in the seminar. The event was attended by research scholars from various colleges, faculty members, and students of the institution. The seminar proved extremely useful for everyone.
The program was successfully conducted by Rakhi Dubey, Priyanshi Soni, and Vishakha Dubey.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the seminar coordinator, Dr. Shreeji Seth, Head of the Department of Political Science.
