This advanced machine will aid in the genetic diagnosis of Sickle Cell Anemia, enabling a clearer identification of its causes and paving the way for more effective treatment strategies.

BMHRC’s In-charge Director, Manisha Srivastava, explained that Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic disorder inherited from parents due to a mutation in the HBB gene. While traditional testing methods primarily identify types of hemoglobin, the DNA Sequencer Machine directly detects mutations at the gene level.

This cutting-edge technology enables the accurate identification of mutations within the HBB gene, helping in the development of personalized treatment plans. It can also determine which gene editing tools or therapies would be most beneficial for a specific patient.
