CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai’s iconic Siddhivinayak Temple, one of the most visited places of worship in India, is set to undergo a significant expansion. The temple trust has decided to purchase a nearby building worth ₹100 crore to enhance its infrastructure and provide better facilities for the growing number of devotees.
According to sources, the temple trust has finalized a deal to acquire a multi-storey property adjacent to the shrine. The decision comes in response to increasing footfall, especially during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, when lakhs of devotees visit the temple seeking blessings of Lord Ganesha.
Officials from the trust stated that the newly purchased building will be used to expand administrative operations, provide accommodation for priests and staff, and create additional waiting areas for devotees. Plans also include developing modern amenities such as a medical room, rest areas, and digital service counters for smoother darshan management.
The Siddhivinayak Temple, built in 1801, has been a spiritual landmark of Mumbai and attracts not just devotees from across India but also international visitors. With donations pouring in regularly, the temple trust has been able to invest in various social initiatives, including healthcare and education.
The new purchase reflects the temple’s long-term vision to combine tradition with modern facilities. While the expansion is expected to improve crowd management, it also highlights the temple’s growing role as a religious and cultural hub in Mumbai.
