CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The importance of education in any language increases when it incorporates the ancient literature of that language. This statement was made by South-West Assembly MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani, speaking as the Chief Guest at a seminar jointly organized by the Madhya Pradesh Sindhi Sahitya Academy and the National Sindhi Language Development Council, New Delhi.
The seminar, held at the Madhya Pradesh Sanskriti Parishad auditorium yesterday, was based on the topic, “Sindhi Education in Madhya Pradesh: In the Context of National Education Policy 2020.” Director Sabnani emphasized that a language’s identity is closely tied to its literature. To promote Sindhi education, attention must be given to the pre-712 AD history of the Sindhi language, as much of its literature from that era remains unknown. He assured the audience that the government would extend full support for this cause and promised personal involvement in ensuring progress.
The keynote speaker, Ravi Prakash Tekchandani, Director of the National Sindhi Language Development Council, New Delhi, highlighted various provisions related to mother tongues under the National Education Policy (NEP). He urged efforts to reinstate the importance of the Sindhi language, noting that the NEP provides substantial support in this regard. Tekchandani mentioned that NEP opens avenues for employment through Sindhi and other languages. However, he stressed the need to thoroughly study the policy to maximize its benefits. He added that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) aims to translate approximately 1,500 books into Sindhi, but the lack of sufficient translators is a major challenge. Additionally, future opportunities in Sindhi teaching across schools and colleges necessitate motivating children to pursue Sindhi education now.
The seminar began with a welcome speech by Rajesh Kumar Wadhwani, Director of the Academy, who noted that this was the first program by the Madhya Pradesh Sindhi Sahitya Academy focused on Sindhi education. He assured that the academy would make every effort to promote the synergy between Sindhi literature and education.
The seminar was conducted by Sameeksha Lachhwani. Sindhi-speaking teachers and literary figures actively involved in teaching at various schools and colleges were notably present at the event.
