CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A chain collision involving six cars occurred near Pakkam during Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK president C. Joseph Vijay’s roadshow in the Madurantakam Assembly constituency on October 2. The accident took place amid heavy traffic generated by the large crowd that had gathered along the roadshow route. According to reports, three drivers suffered minor head injuries in the collision. Police and local authorities reached the spot and worked to manage traffic as Vijay’s campaign convoy continued through the constituency. The roadshow was organised in support of TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel ahead of the October 6 bypoll. Vijay’s campaign covered several villages and localities, with large numbers of people gathering along the route to see the TVK leader. The campaign vehicle travelled through the constituency for several hours, while Vijay made multiple stops to interact with residents. He also visited a roadside tea shop and briefly drove a tractor through farmland while speaking with agricultural workers. Traffic remained slow on sections of the route as police regulated vehicle movement around the Chief Minister’s convoy. The collision occurred before Vijay reached the location, and there was no report that the Chief Minister was involved in the accident. The incident highlighted the traffic-management challenges associated with large political roadshows, particularly when crowds and campaign vehicles converge on busy roads during election campaigning.
