CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: While teaching students new technologies in educational institutions, teachers themselves will also have to remain prepared. Institutions and teachers must keep themselves updated with new technologies and changes. Whenever a new technology has entered the media world, the journalism university has moved forward in step with it. It has also updated its syllabus and subject content. From the new academic session, MCU students will now be taught AI technology in line with the demands of the media and communication industry.

MCU Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari said this at the inaugural session of the FDP on “AI for Media and Communication Professionals”, which began today under the joint aegis of MCU and the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST). He said AI has become an essential intervention in today’s world. Tiwari said this training will be a different experience for incoming students.

Speaking as the chief guest, Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology Director General Dr. Anil Kothari said MCU has done excellent work in developing a curriculum on a subject such as AI. This is real-time work that will have far-reaching results. He said the course is very important, and its teaching and training are also necessary.

Describing the use of AI in journalism as necessary, Kothari said MPCST and MCU will continue to work together in the fields of science journalism and communication in the future as well. On the occasion, keynote speaker Professor Umesh Arya of Guru Jambheshwar University, Haryana, said a basic understanding of AI is very important for working with it. He said work in this area will have to be done while understanding the concept and philosophy of AI. After the lecture, all the guests together planted saplings on the university campus.

AI for Media and Communication Professionals FDP begins at MCU Bhopal

In the first technical session, Professor Munishchandra Trivedi of the Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education discussed the National Education Policy and AI. He said AI makes education more inclusive and is very helpful in enabling students to understand new subjects in simple language. Explaining how to give prompts, he said AI is also very useful in sectors such as research.

In the second technical session, Professor Umesh Arya conducted practical exercises on working with AI platforms under hands-on learning. He explained in detail several practical tasks, including preparing summaries of long reports, analysing videos, preparing summaries in bullet points and comparing two video reports.

The sessions were conducted and coordinated by Dr. Pavitra Shrivastav, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations. The FDP will continue until July 17. The programme has been designed especially for academics and professionals associated with media and communication, and is being organised for people from both academia and industry.

This FDP includes several important subjects such as AI and generative content, multi-form data with pinpoint, deepfake, synthetic media forensics, AI newsroom architecture and AI ethics. In the coming days, several experts from industry, research and academic fields will train the participants during the programme.
