CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: Smile Train India has marked World Smile Day with a nationwide “Smile Wall” initiative aimed at bringing communities together while raising awareness about cleft conditions and available care. The initiative has been organised in collaboration with partner hospitals and communities across the country.
Through the Smile Walls, patients, families, healthcare teams and visitors are being encouraged to share messages, drawings and personal moments that bring them happiness. The initiative seeks to use the simple act of sharing a smile to promote kindness, community participation and awareness of cleft care.
In Delhi, Smile Train India has also introduced “Smile Wall on Wheels,” a mobile installation travelling through schools and public spaces across North, South and Central Delhi. The initiative includes visits to Delhi University’s North Campus and public market areas, giving people an opportunity to participate and learn more about cleft care.
Mamta Carroll, Senior Vice President and Regional Director for Asia at Smile Train, said the campaign provides an opportunity for families and communities to share moments of happiness while learning about support available for children born with clefts.
The nationwide campaign builds on Smile Train India’s earlier Smile Wall initiative, which brought hospitals, schools and communities together around the theme of sharing what makes people smile. The organisation continues to use such community activities to increase awareness about cleft conditions and treatment options.
