CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Raipur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary and Chhattisgarh state in-charge Smriti Irani held a series of meetings with party leaders, legislators, MPs and state ministers during her two-day visit to Raipur on October 25 and 26, 2026. The discussions focused on strengthening the party organisation, improving coordination between the government and the organisation, and preparing for the 2028 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections.
On the second day of her visit, Irani, accompanied by state co-in-charge Siddharth Shambhu, attended meetings at the BJP’s state headquarters, Kushabhau Thakre Parisar. The schedule included separate discussions with party MLAs, MPs and members of the state cabinet, followed by meetings with representatives of various boards, corporations and commissions.
The meetings were intended to assess organisational activities, review coordination between elected representatives and party workers, and identify priorities for the coming months. Leaders also discussed ways to strengthen grassroots engagement and ensure that government welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries.
During the first day of her visit, Irani held extensive discussions with state office-bearers, district-level functionaries, former MPs and former MLAs. Reports indicated that some former public representatives raised concerns about administrative functioning and coordination with the government. However, no official details about specific complaints or any resulting disciplinary decisions were announced.
Irani emphasised the importance of organisational discipline and grassroots participation. She called on party workers to focus on booth-level activities, public outreach and effective implementation of organisational programmes.
The visit comes as the BJP begins preparations for the 2028 Assembly elections. The party is seeking to strengthen its organisational network and maintain coordination between its state leadership, government representatives and grassroots workers.
