Snowfall has occurred in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, while heavy snowfall in the Himalayan areas of Uttarakhand left several trekkers and mountaineers stranded. A rescue operation was carried out in Uttarkashi to evacuate people stranded in various high Himalayan areas.
In Uttarakhand’s Auden Col area, 29 trekkers stranded amid heavy snowfall were safely evacuated by helicopter. A rescue operation also continued in the Kalindi Khal area. In view of the weather in high-altitude areas, the administration has appealed to travellers and mountaineering teams to exercise caution. Snowfall was recorded at the end of September in the higher reaches of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department had forecast snowfall in high-altitude areas and rain in other parts till September 29.
Meanwhile, heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh in recent days had affected normal life in several districts. However, on September 29, the IMD did not issue any weather warning for eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. There is also no warning today for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall activity may continue in different parts of the country over the coming days. People have been advised to plan travel in accordance with the latest advisories issued by local weather departments and the administration.
