CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L. Murugan, and Chief Administrator Rajyogini Dadi Ratan Mohini inaugurated the National Media Conference at the Brahma Kumaris’ headquarters in Anand Sarovar Complex, Shantivan, Abu Road.
The theme of the conference was “Spiritual Empowerment for a Healthy and Happy Society – The Role of Media,” which attracted over a thousand participants, including journalists, editors, bureau chiefs, radio jockeys, freelance journalists, and media professors from across the country.
Role of Media: In his inaugural address, Union Minister Murugan emphasized, “Media plays a crucial role in building a developed India. Today, positive news does not go viral as quickly as false or fake news does.” He urged journalists to verify the accuracy of news before publishing and stated that promoting positive news would help build a healthy and happy society.
Importance of Spirituality: He added, “It is the fundamental right of a journalist to be connected with spirituality.” Encouraging media professionals to embrace spirituality in their personal lives, Murugan highlighted the media’s role as the fourth pillar of democracy.
Contribution of Brahma Kumaris: Murugan praised the work of the Brahma Kumaris organization, saying that it is contributing to world peace. He shared his experience of visiting the organization and receiving blessings from Dadi Ratan Mohini.
Reflections on Media’s Purpose: Maan Singh Parmar highlighted the media’s deviation from its purpose, especially in the commercial atmosphere, where electronic media often exaggerates news. Vishnu Prakash Tripathi, Executive Editor of Dainik Jagran, emphasized the importance of media’s integrity.
Call for an Obscenity-Free Media: Former Director-General of IIMC, Sanjay Dwivedi, called for a society free from obscene content, urging journalists to ensure they spread positivity in society.
