Fatehpur. A school in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district launched a unique initiative to boost the confidence, leadership skills and decision-making ability of girl students. Under the Mission Shakti campaign, girl students were entrusted with important responsibilities for a day. Sonakshi learned about administrative work by becoming district magistrate (DM) for a day, while Rahemeen took on the role of principal and taught children.

Sonakshi was given the opportunity to serve as district magistrate for a day and understand administrative responsibilities. Through the initiative, she was informed about the administrative system, the decision-making process and work related to public welfare. The aim of providing such opportunities to girl students is to develop leadership qualities in them and inspire them to take on major responsibilities in the future.

As part of the same exercise, Rahemeen was made the school principal for a day. She took charge of the principal’s responsibilities, taught students and participated in school activities. The experience gave her a closer understanding of school management, discipline and the responsibilities involved in teaching.

The Mission Shakti campaign in Uttar Pradesh is being run with the objective of promoting the safety, dignity and self-reliance of women and girls. Under the campaign, activities are organised to create awareness among girl students, build confidence and provide leadership opportunities.

The initiative at the Fatehpur school gave girl students an opportunity to understand how important decision-making ability, discipline and confidence are for fulfilling responsibilities in fields such as administration and education. Such activities can inspire girls to recognise their dreams and move forward in different fields in the future.
