Under the guidance of AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Ajay Singh, the Department of Pharmacology at AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with the Society of Pharmacovigilance, India (SoPI), successfully organized the three-day international conference ‘SoPICON 2025.’ The event witnessed the participation of over 300 academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students from India and abroad.
Focusing on the safe use of medicines, medical devices, vaccines, and other healthcare products to enhance patient safety, the conference provided valuable insights and inspiration.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Director Singh stated, “Patient safety is the foundation of effective healthcare. SoPICON 2025 has provided a unique platform to foster innovation, share expertise, and enhance healthcare processes, benefiting not only professionals but also patients and communities.”
Prof. Balakrishnan S, Head of the Pharmacology Department and Conference Chair, emphasized that the conference was not limited to drug safety but also covered medical devices, vaccines, and healthcare product safety.
Key Discussions and Expert Insights
🔹 Dr. Shanti Pal, Team Lead for Pharmacovigilance at WHO Geneva Headquarters, stressed the global importance and expanding scope of pharmacovigilance in the inaugural session.
🔹 Conference Secretary Ratinder Jhaz and Joint Secretary Shilpa Kaure coordinated sessions covering pharmacovigilance in community and medical education, risk assessment, and eco-pharmacovigilance trends.
🔹 Deputy Director (Administration) Col. Ajit Kumar, Prof. Bertha Rathinam (Head of Anatomy), and senior officials from SoPI were also present.
