CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 11th convocation ceremony of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal, was held at the institute campus. Professor Kishore Kumar Basa, Chairman of the National Monument Authority, Government of India, was the chief guest on this auspicious occasion.

Prof. Hakam Dan Charan, Chairman of the Board of Governors, declared the commencement of the convocation. Director Kailasa Rao M. welcomed the chief guest, esteemed dignitaries, and students present, and presented a report on the activities and achievements of SPA Bhopal over the past year. He highlighted that the institute’s students had brought pride to SPA Bhopal by participating in and winning various national and international sports events, competitions, and conferences organized by renowned organizations.

The Director also provided insights into the major activities conducted by the institute during the last year, which included international conferences, training programs, national workshops, the establishment of centers of excellence, and prestigious research and consultancy projects.

The chief guest, Professor Kishore Kumar Basa, who served for more than two decades as a professor in the Department of Archaeology at Utkal University, delivered a convocation address on the topic “Architects in the Anthropocene: Challenges for Architecture as a Profession in India” and congratulated all the graduates.

During the ceremony, degrees and medals were awarded to 263 graduates (125 undergraduates, 129 postgraduates, and 9 PhDs) by the chief guest and the Chairman of the Senate, SPA Bhopal. The degrees included Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Planning, Master of Architecture (Conservation), Master of Architecture (Landscape), Master of Architecture (Urban Design), Master of Design, Master of Planning (Environmental Planning), Master of Planning (Transport Planning and Logistics Management), Master of Planning (Urban and Regional Planning), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

In addition to the degrees, two medals for excellence, nine proficiency gold medals, one certificate of proficiency, ten Best Thesis Awards, and two certificates of appreciation for thesis work were also conferred. Professor Nataraj Kranti, Dean (Academic), coordinated the entire event.

An exhibition showcasing selected academic works created by students from various departments was organized at the venue. The exhibition featured studio works, posters, and design projects.
