CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India ePress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special campaign is being carried out in the Bhopal division to ensure the safety of rail passengers and better arrangements in station premises under the leadership of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Bhopal, Abhishek, and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria.

Under the campaign, continuous surveillance is being maintained through the CCTV camera system installed in station premises. During the past three days, the Railway Protection Force apprehended a total of 11 suspicious persons accused of stealing or attempting to steal passengers’ belongings. Of these, GRP Police Station Bhopal registered cases against two persons under Section 170 of the BNSS and took action as per law.

Action was taken against the remaining nine accused under the Railway Act and they were produced before the Railway Court, where the court punished them with a fine of Rs 2,500 and 30 days’ imprisonment.

To provide passengers with quality and safe food facilities, the Railway Protection Force and the Commercial Department also jointly inspected stalls and catering units at the station. During the inspection, action was taken against 23 vendors found violating commercial rules.

According to the Railway Protection Force, by May in the year 2026, Bhopal Post had taken action against a total of 591 vendors for violating commercial rules.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria said the joint campaign of the Railway Protection Force and the Commercial Department would continue to ensure passenger safety, prevent theft incidents and provide quality catering services through authorised vendors. He also appealed to passengers to remain alert and immediately inform the Railway Protection Force about any suspicious activity.
