CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special screening and awareness camp was organized by the Office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Bhopal at the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Headquarters. A total of 81 cadets from the Army, Naval, and Air Force wings participated in the camp and availed the health services. The camp specifically focused on screening for Sickle Cell Anemia and Hemophilia, and Aadhaar-linked Ayushman Bharat Health IDs (ABHA IDs) were generated for 61 cadets.
Senior NCC officials, including Commander Brigadier Ajit Singh, Colonel Dushyant, and Captain Rahul Gupta, along with doctors and paramedical staff from the health department, actively participated in the event. On this occasion, Captain Dr. Chandra Bahadur Singh Dangi, the Nodal Officer of the NCC Directorate of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, provided important information about the symptoms, treatment, and prevention of Sickle Cell Anemia.
Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic disorder that affects multiple organs and is particularly prevalent in tribal regions. The Government of India has set a target to make the country Sickle Cell free by 2047.
Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer, emphasized the importance of timely screening, genetic counseling, and awareness to curb the spread of the disease. Active screening is currently being conducted in schools, colleges, and especially tribal hostels across Bhopal.
