CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special lecture session on the Fundamental Principles of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 was organized at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), Bhopal. The session was addressed by Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Hon’ble Information Commissioner, Central Information Commission, New Delhi.

The lecture aimed to provide participants with insights into the core principles of the RTI Act, the challenges in its implementation, and best practices to strengthen transparency within institutions and ensure effective compliance with the law.

Addressing the nodal officers and relevant staff, Tiwari emphasized that the Right to Information is not merely a legal provision, but a social tool that ensures transparency and citizen participation in administration. He highlighted that successful implementation of the RTI has resulted in approximately 95% citizen satisfaction, and it is the responsibility of officers to provide timely and accurate information regarding public funds and resources.

Tiwari elaborated on recent amendments, landmark judgments, and procedural rules, encouraging participants to provide more information and noting that lack of information can pose challenges to citizens’ rights. He also answered participants’ questions and stressed the importance of leaving a legacy of transparent governance for future generations.

Chandra Charu Tripathi, Director of NITTTR Bhopal, praised the session, calling it extremely important for all attending officers and staff. The lecture was attended by directors, registrars, officers, and staff from various institutions in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, along with retired officer Vijay Laxmi Tiwari, Prof. R.K. Dixit, Major Nishant Kumar, and others. The session was moderated by Administrative Officer Gautam Kumar Singh.

The program focused on transparency, accountability, and effective implementation of the RTI Act, providing officers with guidance to make institutional procedures more efficient and responsible. Tripathi noted that the clarity and practical insights shared by Tiwari not only enhanced the participants’ understanding of their responsibilities toward citizens but also helped strengthen institutional mechanisms. He emphasized that for the RTI to be effectively implemented, institutional processes must be simple and clear, and staff should receive regular training and guidance.

The session successfully reinforced the importance of transparency and accountability in public administration while equipping officers with the tools to implement the RTI Act effectively.
