CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special lecture on the Indian Penal Code was organized by LNCT School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the School of Legal Studies at LNCT University, Bhopal. Dr. Anand Kumar Tripathi, Adjunct Vice Chancellor of the National Defence University, Gujarat, was the special guest. Anupam Chouksey, Secretary of the LNCT Group, welcomed the keynote speaker with a shawl and a coconut.

During the event, the chief guest elaborated on the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), noting that most of the crimes under the IPC have been retained in the new Indian Penal Code (BNS). Community service has been included as a form of punishment. Sedition is no longer a crime; instead, a new offense has been introduced for acts that threaten India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity. BNS also criminalizes terrorism, defining it as an act intended to threaten the unity, integrity, and security of the country, intimidate the public, or disrupt public order. The chief guest also discussed the provisions of the Indian Penal Code in detail and explained the frameworks governed by religion and law.

Senior journalist and editor-in-chief of MP Post, Sarman Nagele, introduced the chief guest. During his interaction with the students, Mr. Nagele shared insights on the potential and required skills in digital media journalism.
