CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: From April 15 to June 15, 2024, the Special Summer Training Camp – 2024 was organized at Tatya Tope Stadium in Bhopal. In this training camp, 4000 athletes participated in 22 sports disciplines for a period of 2 months. A total of 81 coaches trained the athletes during the camp. The following sports were included in the training camp: Karate, Wrestling, Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Kabaddi, Taekwondo, Yoga, Table Tennis, Badminton, Mallakhamb, Athletics, Volleyball, Squash, Gymnastics, Skating, Basketball, Billiards Snooker, Weightlifting, and Aerobics.
Sports Minister Mr. Vishwas Kailash Sarang congratulated all the athletes participating in the Special Summer Training Camp. He mentioned that these camps were conducted across the entire state, with more than 1 lakh athletes participating. The camps were organized in all districts of the state for a duration of 1 month each, covering both rural and urban areas. The training camp at the headquarters was conducted from April 15 to June 15, 2024.
Director of Sports and Youth Welfare, MP, Mr. Ravi Kumar Gupta, presided over the closing ceremony of the training camp, where athletes and coaches were honored for their participation and achievements.
It is noteworthy that this year’s Special Summer Training Camp was held at Tatya Tope Stadium under the auspices of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare. The closing ceremony of the training camp concluded today. Young athletes in Mallakhamb and Gymnastics presented their performances at the closing ceremony. Joint Director of Sports, B.S. Yadav, Deputy Officer Summer Camp S.K. Upadhyay, and Assistant Director of Sports Development Kharaḍkhar were specially present at the occasion.
During the organized training camp, the department provided all athletes with T-shirts and certificates. Competitions were also held in all sports disciplines. Coaches identified and recognized 20 talented athletes who will receive free training for a year, as announced by the Director of Sports and Youth Welfare.
