CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Sports Authority of India, Regional Centre, Bhopal, and its Sports Training Centres organised a special edition of the nationwide ‘Sunday on Cycle’ campaign. The campaign was held under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, or Drug-Free India Campaign, of the Government of India’s Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Events were organised under the theme ‘Pedal for a Drug-Free India’.

As part of this special initiative, SAI CRC Bhopal and SAI Training Centres in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh organised cycle rallies and awareness activities at their respective locations, spreading the message of adopting fitness and staying away from substance abuse.

SAI CRC Bhopal and Umang Nasha Mukti Kendra organised the programme through joint efforts. More than 100 participants, including patients of the rehabilitation centre, centre staff and local citizens, took part enthusiastically in the activities.

During the programme, participants were made aware of the harmful effects of intoxicating substances and were encouraged to adopt fitness and an active lifestyle for physical and mental health.

At all Sports Training Centre locations, athletes, coaches and support staff joined the local community in cycling and awareness activities and took the message ‘Choose fitness, not drugs’ to the public.

Through the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ campaign, SAI CRC Bhopal is taking the message of the Fit India Movement beyond sports complexes to different sections of society and is continuing to work towards strengthening the national campaign for a drug-free India through sports and fitness.
