CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: DMK president M.K. Stalin has criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over the reported rise in prices of essential commodities in the state. During campaigning in Dharapuram, Stalin said he visited a grocery shop and enquired about the prices of basic household items. He claimed that the prices had increased considerably compared with four months ago, placing additional pressure on families managing their daily expenses.
Taking a dig at Vijay’s social media activity, Stalin asked whether watching reels could fill people’s stomachs when households were struggling with rising grocery costs. Stalin also alleged that the state government was focusing on political developments and projecting achievements instead of addressing issues affecting ordinary people. He claimed that Tamil Nadu’s GST revenue had declined for three consecutive months, even as GST collections were increasing nationally.
Stalin further alleged that experienced professionals were leaving Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion agency, and raised concerns over the economy, electricity, industry, healthcare, dairy development and law and order. These remarks are part of Stalin’s political criticism of the present administration and were made during campaigning. The allegations regarding economic performance and governance were presented by Stalin as his assessment of the state’s situation.
