CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of SBI’s 70th Foundation Day, the Shahpura branch of the State Bank of India organized an inspiring tree plantation program today at Aakriti Retreat Colony. The bank set an exemplary standard by combining environmental protection, community participation, and cleanliness.
As part of the initiative, over 50 shade-giving and fruit-bearing saplings were planted in the colony premises. Additionally, 70 tulsi (holy basil) plants were gifted by the bank to the attendees and residents. Special dustbins for wet and dry waste were also donated to help maintain cleanliness in the colony parks.
Children actively participated in the event. Around 40 children expressed their views on “The Role of Trees in Life” through their artwork. Residents also took part enthusiastically in a cyber security-themed quiz.
Unique artworks made from waste materials by colony vice-president Devendra Prakash Tiwari became a major attraction, delivering the message that even waste can be a medium of creativity.
On this special occasion, Ward No. 52 Councillor Mrs. Sheela Rambabu Patidar was present and planted a sapling, showing her commitment to environmental conservation. The event was also attended by colony president Mahesh Sharma, vice-president Mr. Sarvesh Sachan, many local residents, and senior SBI officials — Regional Manager Mrs. Shreshta Mishra, Mr. Sandeep Chandak, Mr. Rajesh Gupta, and Shahpura Branch Manager Mr. Ramgopal Dhakad along with their teams.
Speaking on the occasion, the Regional Manager remembered SBI’s 70-year journey and said, “SBI is not only a leader in banking but also in fulfilling its social and environmental responsibilities.” Branch Manager Mr. Dhakad added, “Foundation Day is a time to reaffirm our commitment to service, trust, and responsibility towards society. Tree plantation is a symbol of our gratitude to Mother Earth.”
The event not only promoted environmental awareness but also encouraged community participation and social consciousness.
