CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while addressing the State-Level Gaushala Conference held at the Chief Minister’s residence, stated that Madhya Pradesh will be developed as the Dairy Capital of India. He also announced that the name of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy will be changed to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Cow Rearing.

Gaushala operators and cow rearers from across the state participated enthusiastically in the conference.

The Chief Minister transferred a grant of ₹90 crore to Gaushalas across the state with a single click. Additionally, under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana, loan sanction letters were symbolically handed over to three beneficiaries.

He emphasized that the milk procurement system for cow rearers is being strengthened to boost the rural economy.

Dr. Yadav informed that the state currently produces 5.5 crore liters of milk daily, with half of it reaching the market. The government aims to increase milk production fivefold. For this, food processing units will be established, and the number of milk cooperatives will be increased from 9,000 to 26,000.

The grant per cow for Gaushalas has been doubled from ₹20 to ₹40 per day. The state government has signed an agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to set up self-sustainable Gaushalas, which will also be capable of producing organic fertilizer, CNG gas, and solar energy.

On this occasion, registration certificates were awarded to 73 Gaushalas, and 7 Gaushalas were honored with awards.

Minister Lakhan Patel announced the establishment of hi-tech Gaushalas with a capacity of 5,000 to 25,000 cattle at 30 locations across the state. He also highlighted ongoing breed improvement programs to promote animal husbandry.

Senior leader V.D. Sharma and Minister Vishvas Sarang praised cow rearing as the foundation of the state’s economic development. The event saw participation from mayors, public representatives, government officials, and hundreds of cow rearers.
