CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has provided a new structural framework and strategic direction for academic programs in higher education institutions. Emphasis has been laid on outcome-based curricula for undergraduate education, prioritizing employment-oriented and practical learning. Students should be guided as if they are our own sons and daughters. The College Teachers’ Association is committed to resolving the challenges faced by college educators — these were the views shared by experts during a state-level seminar on “National Education Policy 2020: Opportunities and Challenges” organized by the College Teachers’ Association, Madhya Pradesh, at Babulal Gaur Government Postgraduate College, BHEL, Bhopal.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. B.L. Gupta, from the National Institute of Technical Teacher Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal, emphasized that NEP 2020 provides a holistic approach to developing all facets of a student’s life. He advocated for learner-centric, dynamic, relevant, and outcome-based curricula, highlighting the need for quality education, work-life balance, and indigenous-language textbooks.

Dr. R.S. Raghuvanshi, President of the College Teachers’ Association, said that NEP 2020 is centered around students. He stressed that college students must be treated like family and mentored accordingly. The association remains committed to resolving educators’ issues and has achieved success in several matters with remarkable support from fellow teachers.

Chief Guest Barailal Ahirwar, Chairperson of Jan Bhagidari Samiti, called NEP 2020 a visionary initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a carrier of India’s ancient knowledge traditions. Special Guest Dr. D.R. Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of Aryavrat University, noted that past curricula were heavily influenced by Western models, but NEP 2020 reconnects us with India’s glorious heritage.

Principal Dr. Sanjay Jain welcomed dignitaries, educators, and researchers from across Madhya Pradesh. He mentioned that NEP 2020 has become a core topic in academic discussions in higher education. He remarked, “Textbooks are no less than sacred scriptures for students; hence, their creation must be handled sensitively.”

The seminar began with a lamp-lighting ceremony before Goddess Saraswati, followed by honoring guests with shawls, coconuts, and potted plants. In the technical session, papers were presented by Dr. Sushma Durafe, Jagrati Gupta, Priyanshu Gupta, Sadhana Kumari, Purnima Ahirwar, Dr. Lalchand Rajput, Dr. B.K.
