CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: Continuous monitoring is being carried out at the state level for the control and elimination of vector-borne diseases. Dr. Himanshu Jaiswar, State Programme Officer, Vector Borne Disease Control Program, Madhya Pradesh, held a detailed review meeting with all officers and employees working in the district at the District Malaria Office.
At the meeting, Dr. Jaiswar assessed the progress of vector-borne disease control activities being conducted in the district. These included larval surveys, case-based surveillance, fogging work, availability of kits and IEC/BCC activities.
Dr. Jaiswar directed that all supervisory staff should carry out supervision work in their respective zones seriously as per the prescribed schedule. Along with regular supervision, activities should be conducted with children in schools. Through teams, larval surveys, activities in hostels and public awareness at public places should be carried out. Larval breeding sites should be identified and immediate larval destruction, space spray, indoor fogging and outdoor thermal fogging, along with control activities at places where larvae are found, should be undertaken.
The State Programme Officer gave clear instructions that cooperation with the Municipal Corporation should be further strengthened. During inspections, larval survey work should be carried out in coordination with Municipal Corporation employees, and vacant plots in all zones should also be monitored. In case of water accumulation, a warning should be issued initially, and if continuous waterlogging is found, challan action through the Municipal Corporation should be ensured. BTI should be sprayed on stagnant water collected in temporary water sources and vacant plots, and Gambusia fish should be used as required.
During the review, State Programme Officer Dr. Jaiswar said that, in view of the transmission season, all teams should remain alert at the field level. Field visits will also be conducted in districts from the state level to regularly review activities.
District Malaria Officer Smrita Namdev, District Malaria Consultant Ruchi Silakari, Dr. Santosh Bhargava and other officers and employees were present on the occasion.
