CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee’s social media head and in-charge of Budhni by-election, Yogendra Singh Parihar, has accused the BJP of misleading the public. He stated that the BJP is continually trying to suppress the truth and mislead farmers. His remarks came in response to a complaint lodged by the BJP with the Election Commission against former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh.
After a public meeting in Bherunda, former CM Digvijaya Singh visited the Ladkui area, where he observed the issues faced by farmers in the double-lock warehouse. A large number of farmers were seen struggling to get DAP fertilizer. Singh stopped to listen to their grievances, with the farmers explaining the severe fertilizer shortage. Congress claims that the shortage of DAP fertilizer is a major issue in Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s constituency, which the BJP is trying to hide.
In response to the BJP’s complaint, accusing Digvijaya Singh of inciting farmers, Congress has initiated its own inquiry. The Congress social media team visited various cooperative fertilizer distribution centers in Budhni constituency, including Ladkui, Tildia, Rala, and Brahmadev, to assess the situation. The investigation revealed that the centers had less than half the required supply of DAP fertilizer, and farmers were being forced to purchase Nano DAP and Nano Urea, increasing their financial burden.
Congress questioned whether the central government approves of this indirect exploitation of farmers. In November 2022, the central government issued clear orders that there should be no tagging of products with DAP and urea, yet farmers are being given other products instead of their preferred fertilizers.
Congress leaders and local activists, along with the media, investigated the situation, proving that the BJP’s complaint was false and baseless. Congress stated that the farmers in Budhni are troubled by the shortage of adequate fertilizer, not because of any incitement.
Yogendra Singh Parihar accused the BJP of attempting to distract from the real issue by making false allegations against the former CM for raising farmers’ concerns, rather than addressing the fertilizer availability issue.
