CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal / Maharashtra :The Maharashtra government has issued strict guidelines for the use of social media by its officers and employees. This step has been taken to prevent the leakage of confidential information and the spread of false news. Violators of the guidelines will face disciplinary action under the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1979.
According to the new guidelines, criticism of government schemes, objectionable comments on government policies, and the use of banned websites and apps are strictly prohibited. Officers and employees must keep their personal and official social media accounts separate and promote government schemes only through authorized platforms.
No confidential documents, government emblems, uniforms, or property-related photos or videos may be shared on personal social media accounts. Additionally, posting or forwarding hate speech, inflammatory, or discriminatory content is strictly forbidden.
The government has also stated that apps like WhatsApp and Telegram should be used only for internal office coordination. Employees have been advised to avoid self-promotion and use social media with responsibility and caution.
The government has described this move as essential for maintaining administrative discipline and information security.
