CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: New Delhi. The hearing in the Supreme Court on petitions filed against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission of India (ECI) has been deferred. The court has given the concerned party 10 days to file its reply.
During the hearing on the petitions, the proceedings were adjourned for a later date after additional time was granted to file the reply. The court may now take up the matter for further hearing after the reply is filed within the stipulated time limit.
The matter concerning the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commission is significant in the context of legal questions linked to the electoral system, constitutional provisions and the role of the commission. However, a clear account of the specific issues raised in the petitions and the court’s detailed observations can be given only when precise information is available.
The deferment of the hearing in the Supreme Court does not mean the matter has been disposed of. After the reply is filed and during the next hearing, the court will consider the submissions of the concerned parties. Further judicial action in the matter will now be watched.
